Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a precision metal removal process whereby a wire is electrically charged and as it comes near the metal work piece, metal is removed via erosion.  The path of the wire is CNC controlled.  Wire EDM machining is commonly used in the tool and die industry.

The Benefits of Machining via Wire EDM are:

  • The ability to machine very small internal radii (can machine a radius as small as .004")
  • The ability to machine swarfing surfaces, walls with varying angles
  • Superior surface finish
  • The ability to machine hardened steel
